San Diego Breast Lift

A breast lift can enhance your appearance and your self-confidence by raising and reshaping saggy misshapen breasts. Factors such as aging, pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity all stretch the skin and supportive ligaments of the breasts, and as a result, the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts lose their shape and firmness, and begin to sag.
By removing excess skin and tightening supportive structures, perkier, shapelier breasts with the appropriate sized areola and the nipples in its proper position can be recreated. If your breasts are small or have lost volume, such as after pregnancy, breast implants can be inserted through the same incisions and at the same time as the breast lift is performed to increase both firmness and size of the breasts.
If you have implants along with the breast lift, you may find the results last longer. Also, with less severe sagging, incisions can be limited to just around the areola (doughnut, concentric, or periareolar mastopexy) and are less noticeable than the conventional incisions.
Breast lift Introduction:
Breast lift is designed to improve breast ptosis (droop). This surgery may or may not be performed with breast augmentation (placement or implant). It is also done to increase volume and improve breast shape.
Reasons for undergoing a breast lift:
- Some of the candidates have breasts that are pendulous and for a satisfactory size.
- Breast that lack substance or firmness
- Nipples and areolas that point downwards, especially if they are positioned below the breast crease.
- Loss of elasticity, weight loss, pregnancy and breast –feeding affect the shape and firmness of the breasts.
Breasts that are large and heavy can be lifted but the results may not
be as long lasting as when it is done on smaller breasts. A breast lift
can be performed at any age. But one has to wait until breast
development has stopped. Pregnancy and breast-feeding may have
significant effect on the breasts; surgery will not affect your ability
to breast-feed. This should be discussed with your surgeon.
Your personal consultation:
During your personal consultation on breast lift, you will be asked about your
desired breast shape and size. Your plastic surgeon will ask you how
your nipples and areolas will be repositioned. Mention any improvement
to be seen in your breast.
Evaluation by plastic surgeon:
Plastic surgeon will examine your breasts, takes measurements
conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments received, previous
surgeries including breast biopsies and medications that you take. Your
complete medical history should be provided. If at all there was any
weight loss, your weight should be stabilized before the surgery.
Risks involved:
There are always risks involved in surgery. So it is same here in
breast lift surgery. Significant complications from breast lifts
are infrequent. Thousands of women go through surgery without
experiencing major problems and are pleased with the results. Following
a breast lift surgery, sometimes the breasts may not be
perfectly symmetrical or the nipple may vary slightly. Minor
adjustments can be made at a later time. Permanent loss of sensation in
the nipple or areas of breast skin may occur rarely. Revisional surgery
may be helpful where incisions have not healed poorly.
Surgical procedure:
Full breast lift:
This procedure involves an incision across the base of the breast as
well as incisions around the areola and an incision between the areola
and the base of the breast. Maximal correction of the breast shape is
possible with this but at the cost of more scarring.
Modified breast lift:
This procedure uses a step known as Benelli breast lift. A popular form
of this is known for only an incision around the areola. Less scarring
comes with less correction of the breast’s shape. Benelli procedures
are frequently performed within the breast augmentation. But this
procedure is criticized because of the tendency to reduce projection of
the breast.
There are some realities which cannot be escaped. The aging breast
tissue may not allow lasting correction to overcome surgical
correction.
